Tax Exemption on a Rate Code

Tax exemption at the rate plan level can be configured in HotelKey under Property Settings by following the steps outlined below.

This setting will apply tax exemption to all future reservations under the selected rate plan; however, any reservations that have already been charged taxes will require a manual adjustment.

Note - this feature is permission based, not all users have the permission applied to their role to see or edit this function

From the HotelKey Home screen, select your property and then Property Settings under Administration.

Once in the Property Settings,  navigate to Rate Plan Setup and select Rate Setup.

You can search for the applicable Rate Plan by Rate Plan Code or Rate Plan Name.

In this example, we will choose the Government Rate by selecting Edit to the right of the name.

In the Edit Rate Setup screen, toggle the Tax/Fee Exempt button and click on Tax/Fee Exempt Code Update button.

In the Select Exempt Code screen, choose the tax exempt type and then select Save.

To Apply Tax/Fee Exemption to In-House & Booked Reservations, select the Apply button. 

A confirmation page will load and you will select Yes, Update Reservations. Once selected, the system will apply this new tax rule to all existing and future reservations moving forward.

All previously charged taxes on folios will need to be handled manually.
