Package Categories

Package Categories in EventKey are used to organize your event packages into logical groups, making it easier for users to quickly locate the appropriate package when attaching it to an Event Record. By assigning each package to a relevant category—such as "Breakfast," "Audio/Visual," or "Full-Day Meeting"—your team can streamline the event planning process and reduce time spent searching through long lists of packages. Well-structured categories also help maintain consistency across events and improve overall efficiency when building or managing event records.

Accessing and Creating Package Categories

The Package Categories screen displays a list of all existing package categories available for use with an event.

To create a new package category:

  1. Navigate to the Package Categories screen.

  2. Click the blue Add New button in the top-right corner to begin creating a new package category.

When you click Add New, a new Add Package Category screen will appear.

  1. Enter a Name:
    Type in the name for your new package category.
    Example: “Lunch Packages” or “AV Services”

  2. Save the Category:
    Click the Save button to create the new package category.

Your new category will now be available for use when creating or editing packages.

Confirmation

After saving, you will be returned to the Package Categories listing screen.
Your newly created package category will now appear in the list and is available for selection when configuring new packages.

Deleting a Package Category

If a package category is no longer needed, you can delete it from the system. Follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Package Categories List:
    From the Package Categories listing screen, locate the package category you want to remove.

  2. Click the Red Delete Button:
    Click the red Delete button next to the package category.

  3. Confirm Deletion:
    A confirmation window will appear. To permanently delete the package category, click the red Delete button again.

⚠️ Important:
Once a package category is deleted, it is permanently removed from the database and cannot be recovered. If you need it again in the future, you will need to recreate it from scratch.

⏭️ What’s Next
After creating a new Package Category, navigate to Packages > Package Setup. Find and select the package that corresponds to the new category, then in the Basic Data section, assign the new Package Category to the Package Category field for that package. For more information see “Package Setup” Knowledge Base Article under the Packages Menu.
