📆 Revision Date:
House Inventory refers to the total number of physical rooms a hotel has available for sale. The House Inventory screen provides a day-by-day overview of rooms inventory, occupancy, availability, restrictions, arrivals, and departures for the hotel and individual room types.
House Inventory = Total Physical Rooms - Out of Order (OOO) Rooms (rooms that cannot be sold due to severe maintenance issues, renovations, or deep cleaning).
Why It Matters
-
Occupancy %, ADR, and RevPAR—the holy trinity of hotel metrics—all rely on this number to measure performance.
-
Prevents Overbooking: Knowing the exact house inventory ensures the front desk or online booking sites don't sell more rooms than the hotel actually has available.
-
Staffing and Supplies: Housekeeping uses house inventory to determine how many staff members are needed to clean rooms and how much linen to order.
